2019 Statewide Job Fair Boasts Impressive Turnout

Topeka, Kan. – The 2019 KANSASWORKS Statewide Job Fair took place at 11 different locations across the state with a sharp increase in participation over last year.

This year’s Statewide Fair had a 114% increase in the number of job seekers and a 127% increase in the number of employers as compared to the 2018 Fair. A total of 2,501 job seekers attended this year’s fairs to meet with the more than 400 employers represented.

“These participation numbers are extraordinary, and they reflect the hard work of our KANSASWORKS team and the importance of our continued partnership with Kansas businesses,” Acting Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “I’m so proud of this program and everything it does for Kansas businesses and job seekers every day. KANSASWORKS and its director, Mike Beene, should be proud of these results and what they mean for job-seeking Kansans.”

The Statewide Job Fair is an annual event created to provide opportunities for unemployed Kansans and their families to meet with a variety of employers in various industries and fields. Veterans seeking additional employment at any stage in their career search are invited, including active duty, reservists, or National Guard.

The fair was open to all job seekers at locations across the state, including Colby, El Dorado, Independence, Kansas City, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Manhattan, Overland Park, Salina, Topeka and Wichita.
