AGLOW Trio is a classical music ensemble comprised of flutist Karen McLaughlin Large, oboist and composer Alyssa Morris, and pianist Amanda Arrington. Combining their extensive experience as soloists, chamber musicians, and educators with years of close friendship, they have created something truly special. AGLOW Trio is dedicated to bringing light and optimism to their audiences. By carefully curating programs aimed at highlighting new and unique voices, commissioning and performing works by living and historically underrepresented composers, incorporating popular/ classical music hybrid arrangements, and promoting positivity throughout their programming,
AGLOW strives to leave their audiences feeling inspired and uplifted. They have performed multiple performance tours in the US and abroad, and are American Prize Finalists in Chamber Music Performance. AGLOW Trio can be found online performing new works on their YouTube channel, and on all streaming platforms in their new album “The Light Is The Same,” featuring world-premiere recordings of works by composer Reena Esmail, Bill Douglas, and Grace Baugher-Dunlap, (recorded by Radium Recordings.)
PROGRAMS: “Finding Light” is a program featuring works that are centered on various aspects of light: the stars in the sky, smiling and laughing, social connection, hope, and more. “Finding Light” features works “How the Constellations Flicker” by Kansas composer Grace Baugher-Dunlap; a jazzy, dancing trio by composer Bill Douglas; a contemplative work centered on societal connection by award-winning composer Reena Esmail called “The Light is the Same”; Madeleine Dring’s jovial trio for Flute, Oboe, and Piano; Kansas composer Alyssa Morris’s work centered on mental wellness called “Coping,” and more. (Program currently available) “Infinities” is a program featuring works that reflect on concepts of the infinite: where a road or a circle ends, the vastness of space and the heavens, where a rainbow ends, and more.
“Infinities” features an upbeat, rocking work about the internet by Kansas composer Tony Rodriguez called “Untitled No_1”; a contemplative work by award-winning composer Amanda Harberg called “Crossroads”; an energetic and thoughtful trio by Kansas composer Alyssa Morris called “Of Infinity”; a medley of “Rainbow Connection and Somewhere Over the Rainbow”; and more.
