Today’s announcement of one of the largest economic development projects in the state’s history culminates a collaborative effort between the company and state, city and county officials.
“We are thrilled when a Kansas company like Spirit, through hard work, ingenuity and continued investment, is so incredibly successful,” said Dr. Jeff Colyer, Kansas Lieutenant Governor. “Our aim is to continue enhancing and expanding the partnership between the aviation industry, university research and development, and career and technical training, to ensure our state maintains its position as the Air Capital of the World.
“It is exciting to see such a huge new investment by one our state’s leading aerospace industry leaders,” said Nick Jordan, Interim Secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce. “This investment by Spirit AeroSystems, in both new facilities and more high paid Kansas workers, is evidence of the ongoing recovery in this industry which is vital to our state’s economy.”
